White label matcha green tea

Matcha is the odd one out of everything we pack, and every one of its oddities changes how you should sell it.

It is the only product with a colour. The only one with no flavour options, because matcha is the flavour. The only one carrying a caffeine declaration. And at 2g a serving rather than 5g, a single tub is 150 cups — about five months for one daily drinker, the longest-lasting stock in the range.

Ten tubs is £328 before VAT and delivery. That is the dearest tub entry of our ten ingredients, and still a fraction of what a print run costs.

The widest gap in the range

On most products the choice between a sachet run and a pouch run is a close call. On matcha it is not.

Five thousand sachets is £1,350. Seven hundred pouches is £11,704. The pouch minimum is far smaller in units and nearly nine times larger in money, because a pouch holds 300g and a sachet holds 2g — 700 pouches is 210kg of matcha against 10kg for the sachet run.

If you want printed packaging and you are not already selling matcha in volume, sachets are the realistic route. That is not true of any other product here.

What a low MOQ actually buys you

MOQ is minimum order quantity — the smallest run a manufacturer will accept, usually five thousand units in supplements, because printed packaging is made in one long print run and the run sets the minimum.

Tubs sidestep it. Filled from stock we hold, your label applied, no print run behind the order. On matcha that matters more than usual, because the alternative is an £11,704 first order.

Caffeine, and what it means for your label

Matcha contains naturally occurring caffeine, and caffeine content carries labelling obligations in GB. That forms part of the statutory information we supply with your template, positioned correctly before you start designing.

Worth knowing at the artwork stage rather than after a proof comes back — it is one of the more common reasons a first matcha design needs reworking.

A different customer

Own-brand matcha tends to sell to cafes, wellness brands and subscription boxes rather than gyms. It competes on provenance and presentation rather than performance, which changes what your packaging has to do. It is also one of the few products here where a printed pouch genuinely looks better on a shelf than a labelled tub — so the case for moving up is aesthetic as much as economic.

What you get, whichever route you take

  • The statutory information for the product, including caffeine information, set out ready for your artwork
  • Batch code and best before on every unit
  • A scoop in every tub and every pouch
  • Induction heat sealed
  • A proof before anything prints, and a full refund if you cancel before you approve it
  • Boxed and shipped tracked from Weston-super-Mare

Matcha attracts a lot of antioxidant and energy language that is not permitted on a GB label. We will flag anything on your artwork that looks like a problem. We will not write your claims for you.

Three routes, and the widest gap in the range

Matcha is where the difference between a sachet run and a pouch run is starkest. Same powder, very different cheque.

Printed film replaces the tub, the lid and the label, so cost per gram falls by roughly half. Splits five ways at 140 each.

Choose pouches

The order that surprises people

Sachets carry the biggest minimum and the smaller cheque. £1,350.00 against £11,704.00 for pouches, on the same powder.

So the real ladder is not 10, then 700, then 5,000. By what you actually pay it runs ten tubs, then five thousand sachets, then seven hundred pouches. Worth knowing before you assume the middle step is the affordable one.

Questions

If yours is not here, email orders@makemysupps.co.uk.

What is the minimum order for white label matcha?

Ten 300g tubs, which is £328 before VAT and delivery. Matcha is the dearest product in our 300g range, so this is the highest tub entry price of the ten — but it is still a fraction of a print run.

Sachets start at 5,000 (£1,350) and pouches at 700 (£11,704).

Why is the pouch run so much more than the sachet run?

Because a pouch holds 300g and a sachet holds 2g. Seven hundred pouches is 210kg of matcha; five thousand sachets is 10kg. The pouch minimum is smaller in units and vastly larger in product.

On matcha that gap is the widest in the range — £1,350 against £11,704. If you want printed packaging and you are not already selling in volume, sachets are the realistic route.

Does matcha need a caffeine declaration?

Matcha contains naturally occurring caffeine, and caffeine content carries labelling obligations in GB. That information forms part of the statutory template we supply, positioned correctly before you start on artwork.

It is worth knowing at the design stage rather than after a proof comes back.

Can I get it flavoured?

No, and that is deliberate. Matcha is the flavour. The other 300g products will eventually offer Peach, Lemon and Mango, but matcha is supplied as matcha — there is nothing to add.

How long does a tub last?

A 2g serving is a cup, so a 300g tub is 150 cups — about five months for someone drinking one a day. That is the longest-lasting tub in the range, and it means ten tubs is 1,500 cups of stock.

Worth factoring into your reorder planning: matcha customers come back less often than collagen customers, but they spend more each time.

Who typically buys own-brand matcha?

Cafes, wellness brands and subscription boxes more than gyms. It sells on provenance and presentation rather than on performance, which changes what your packaging needs to do — and it is one of the products where a printed pouch genuinely looks better on a shelf than a labelled tub.

How long does it take?

Tubs ship in days from filled stock. Pouches and sachets are six weeks from artwork approval, because the film has to be printed before anything can be filled. The clock starts when you approve artwork, not when you order.

Can I cancel?

Yes, at any point before you approve your artwork, for a full refund. Once approved we originate and print, and the order can no longer be cancelled.

What goes on the label, and who is responsible for it?

We supply the statutory information for the product with the mandatory items positioned correctly, including caffeine information, plus batch code and best before on every unit. You add your brand name, logo and any other text.

You are the brand owner and remain responsible for the compliance of what you sell. GB rules on what a label may claim are narrow, and the wording of any permitted claim cannot be paraphrased. Matcha attracts a lot of antioxidant and energy language that is not permitted. We will flag anything on your artwork that looks like a problem, but we will not write your claims for you.

I have no artwork. Can you help?

Ask and we will introduce you to an independent designer. The introduction is free.

Why are printed quantities plus or minus 10%?

Printed film runs never land on an exact count. Setup wastes material and the run stops on length rather than units, so a 700 pouch order delivers between 630 and 770 and that counts as a correct delivery. Plan your own stock on the lower figure. Tubs are unaffected, because there is no print run.
